The 3rd AFRIPOL meeting
The 3rd AFRIPOL AdHoc committee meeting is ongoing in Algiers, Algeria capital (AFRIPOL headquarters) to review the roadmap towards the full implementation of AFRIPOL.
The meeting intends to achieve the drafting of statutes of AFRIPOL and legal text governing its organization, operation and funding.
AFRIPOL will bring together all African police forces to cooperate in the fight against crime especially terrorism and cross border crimes like trafficking.
The committee shall conclude a 3years action plan and come up with specific activities, timelines and programs proposed for AFRIPOL.
The meeting shall also agree on administrative structure and budgeting that will enable AFRIPOL to become fully operational by January 2016.
On 11th February 2014 in Algeria, senior African police official established a mechanism for African police operation called the African Police Cooperation Organization- AFRIPOL under the aegis of the African Union.
AFRIPOL now accommodates almost 40 African states having its headquarters at Algiers Algeria.
