The territorial police at Old Kampala are investigating an incident of shooting at New Taxi Park.
The incident happened yesterday (13.05.2022) at around 2300hrs at New Taxi Park.
It is alleged that while police officers where on a patrol vehicle that had parked in the New taxi park, an unidentified person hit an officer, Police Constable Lambat Ekomut with a stone.
The suspect fled and entered a nearby drainage channel.
PC Ekomut and his colleagues pursued him with an intention to arrest him.
It is alleged PC Ekomut caught up with the suspect and attempted to arrest him.
A scuffle ensued, which led to an officer discharging a bullet.
The bullet hit the male adult in the stomach and later succumbed to the bullet wound.
An inquiry into the shooting incident is ongoing.
The gun suspected to have been used during the incident has been recovered and submitted for analysis.
Efforts are underway to identify the victim. More details will be availed as soon as possible.
