RE: REMARKS OF THE INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE AT THE CLOSING SESSION OF THE 27TH POLICE COUNCIL MEETING HELD AT POLICE HEADQUARTERS FROM 23RD TO 24TH NOVEMBER , 2023.

– The Deputy Inspector General of Police

– The Chief of Joint Staff

– Delegates,

– Ladies and gentlemen.

First of all, I take this opportunity to thank all of you for the diverse views that have made this Council successful. I also thank the Honorable Minister of Internal Affairs, in his absentia, for his guidance and beautiful remarks during the official opening of this Council.

The 27th Police Council Meeting on the theme “Consolidating modern pro-active community Policing through technology for a secure and prosperous society,” has delivered what was expected. We were provided with a comprehensive discussion on what is happening on the ground in terms of modern pro-active policing, science and technology development and the difficulties that continue to exist in Policing generally.

The wealth of information and experiences shared, the lessons learned as well as the commitments undertaken during the discussions are extremely useful to the institution. As Delegates, it is our cardinal role to ensure that whatever has been resolved is implemented. The rich ideas and resolutions made in these two days are a call to action and should not be left in this tent.

However, the success of whatever has been discussed in these two days can only bear fruits if the implementation processes and delivery mechanisms involve all our officers. This is because Policing work involves team work. Therefore, all of us bear a task of cascading the resolutions of this 27th Police Council meeting to the respective personnel that we supervise.

As Supervisors, we must rise to the challenge and the responsibility that the UPF Management has bestowed upon us to ensure that the determination garnered during discussions is reflected in the implementation process.

As I conclude, I once again thank all of you for turning up and freely offering your invaluable views in these two days.

I also thank the Directorate of HRA for Organizing this Meeting.

With the above brief remarks, I declare the 27th Police Council Meeting closed.

FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY

J.M.Okoth-Ochola,(Esq)
