UPDATE ON THE MASAKA CASE OF MURDER AND AGGREVATED ROBBERY

We all recall that on July 1st, 2018, Moses K. Hardware shop in Masaka was attacked at about 1930/c by a group of armed assailants.  During that attack, one Moses Musinguzi, a UPDF reserve force guard was brutally murdered and his assault rifle with 30 rounds of ammunition was robbed. The sum of money robbed was amounting to UGX. 435,705,500=.  In the same attack, one Shafique Kiggundu, a casual laborer was also shot and badly injured. He died on arrival to Masaka Referral hospital.

Investigations started immediately. Leads were followed. CCTV cameras were studied and properly analyzed. And identities of those involved in the armed robbery and murder were positively identified.

The master mind in this crime, still at large is identified as WAKUBE JAMES, alias IMRAN, a resident of Busega in Rubaga Division. Some of those involved in the crime have been arrested.

The two: TWEHEYO Julius and KANKAKA GEREVAZIO alias Kojja were arrested from Ntungamo District and Busega respectively. We recovered UGX. 40, 000,000= from Tweheyo Julius and we have since impounded a motor vehicle highly suspected to have been bought from the proceeds of crime. it is Primo saloon car currently in the hands of the  police.

Those still at large include the prime suspect: Wakube James alias Imran, one Kayemba whose second name is yet to be identified another.

The police are continuing with the hunt of the assailants. We have the task of apprehending them to bring them to justice. But also, to recover the killer gun as well as the one they robbed from the guard they killed. We have good leads but we equally appeal to the public to notify us in case they have clues on the whereabouts of the said prime suspect. They should channel this information in confidence to DPC Masaka (0714667877) or OC CID Masaka (0714667877) or to any police station nearest to them.

We continue to encourage private persons to make use of CCTV because these facilities help a great deal in the fight against crime as clearly identified in this case. We pledge to find the suspected criminals and bring them to book.

  1. ANOTHER DRUG TRAFFICKER ARRESTED AT ENTEBBE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

A suspected drug trafficker by the name Ms. MUKWATE ELIZABETH 36 years, a Malawian national was intercepted at the airport having an assortment of suspected illicit drugs. She was arrested yesterday Sunday July 22, 2018 and enroot to New Delhi, India.

As many do, she had concealed the illicit substances in her bags. We thank the joint teams at the air port in their continued efforts to fight this crime. We know for sure that with more efforts especially the coming on board of a committee appointed by the relevant minister, and a proper officer, we our fight against drug trafficking will even more robust.
