CREATING REGINAL PSU TEAMS IN KMP
PSU has created PSU Teams within Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP). We have stationed regional PSU Commanders at every police region for the purposes of accessibility by the public. Each region has a contact person who will bridge a gap between the PSU, police and the public.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
PSU has embarked on a nationwide community outreach program. The program is intended to sensitize the public about the mandate of PSU, listen to complaints and take action where need arises. As a result of this program, detectives in room 14 and 7 at Katwe division and other officers are undergoing serious vetting and screening due to numerous complaints raised against them in public meeting.
FLYING SQUAD IMPOSTER
We are receiving reports of imposters claiming to be working with flying Squad. A case in a point is where an imposter allegedly conned a Chinese investor of USD 30,000. The case was reported at Bwera police station Vide SD 27/03/07/17. Two suspected people have been arrested, a one Akim and Zaake Matove who are currently being detained at Jinja road police station pending transfer to Bweera Police Station. The complaint has been notified.

KASANGATI
Regarding the kasangati incidents, the PSU has opened a probe into TV reports(footage) alleging that a one Patrick Sunday a supporter of Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi(Bobi Wine) was allegedly beaten by FFU officers on the voting day of kyadando-East by elections on 29th- June- 2017. We have identified officers who were involved, through the video footage and the investigations are underway. We are in contact with the victim. In the due course of the week we will be updating you on the matter.
DRUNK ON DUTY
PSU is working hand in hand with territorial commanders to identify incidents of alcohol abuse by officers on duty. And in doing that, we work with the police medical team, in examining their mental and physical fitness in performing their duties at police officers.
ELECTRONIC COMPLAINTS SYSTEM
We are also in process of starting and electrical complaints platform. An active WhatsApp number will be availed for the public in addition to facebook and twitter.
TRAFFIC
Lastly PSU is in collaboration with other stakeholders in the transport sector are working closely to monitor the behavior and conduct of traffic personnel while on duty. This is a broad objective to ensure that they work professionally in ensuring safety of all travelers on the road.
