POLICE REFUTES CLAIMS IT WITHDREW VIP PROTECTION PERSONNEL

Latest Posts Press Release

The Police would like to dismiss claims on social media that it withdrew its VIP protection officers, deployed to guard retired Supreme Court Justice Prof Dr G.W Kanyeihamba, as false and baseless. The police has not withdrawn its officers and is still responsible for the protection of the retired Supreme Court Justice.

As you are all aware, there were attempts by the VIP, to have broad discretion over the choice of the VIP protection officers and their responsibility, which violates the security protocols for VIPs.  We want to add that the allowances of the VIP protection officers are promptly paid by the judiciary and not the police, as claimed in social media circles.

Although we do not discuss our specific VIP security measures, we continue to closely monitor and review our security arrangements both close body and at the residence of the retired Supreme Court Justice. Any additional protection and related security adjustments will be provided if the situation warrants.

The public should remain confident that the retired Supreme Court Justice is well protected, both at his residence and wherever he moves out of his home.

We want to further inform the public that we do take all forms of threats to life seriously, and would like to encourage the retired Supreme Court justice and his lawyers, to report any kind of threats against him to the police for further investigations.
