- On the 5/05/2014 at the Government ferry plying along lake Albert left Wanseko landing site at around 6pm on its last trip to Panyimur landing site where it was expected to dock at around 7.30 pm. The ferry, however, broke down at a distance of five nautical miles from Wanseko landing site and the operators alerted the police marines unit at around midnight after failed attempts to repair it.
- The police marines responded and with the support of two civilian boats from the local community safely evacuated the over 200 passengers on board.
- Arrangements are in place by the Chief Mechanical Engineer, Ministry of Works and Transport and Uganda National Roads Authority to send its Engineers to conduct urgent repairs to the ferry.
- The public will be informed of any new developments regarding operations of the ferry in due course.
