Vivo Energy Uganda, together with Uganda Traffic police, NTV, National Road Safety Council and Red Cross Uganda has today launched a new robust road safety campaign called TWEDEKO.

Twedeko is a Luganda word for “let us reconsider our ways” or “let us change our ways”. The campaign will run for one year using testimonials, pledges, road safety tips and TV talk shows. It will be driven by TV and supported by social media.

This campaign will focus on road safety through sensitizing the publics on road usage.

Through its road safety educational programme, the company has invested heavily in training different categories of people including boda boda riders, taxi drivers, bus drivers, truck drivers and school children to develop a critical mass of road safety champions that inspire others.

The Twedeko campaign has identified responsible citizens who, through their testimonies and pledges, will challenge viewers about their behavior on the road. It will also involve exemplary boda boda riders, taxi drivers and bus drivers who also have some personal examples of road accidents that should challenge the way people think and behave on the road.

The campaign will drive a caravan from Kampala to Masaka sensitizing on road usage, road signs, handling victims of road accidents among others.
