About 140 Uganda Formed Police Officers are set to be deployed in Somalia towards the end of this year. The group is currently undergoing training and they are in final stages of preparation.
Director peace support operations AIGP Grace Turyagumanawe applauded the officers who are training and encouraged them to be committed to their work.
He made the remarks during shooting range exercise at Kigo prison grounds where he had gone to assess the progress of the training. He urged the trainees to be discipline and to work hard to liberate and bring peace in Somalia.
About 140 officers will be sent to Somalia in August this year. Uganda Police first sent its formed unit to Somalia in 2012 and this group will mark the 6 troop from Uganda police force to be sent to Somalia.
