Police Dispatches Identification Team to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

The Police has today, Thursday, 14th March, 2019, dispatched a team to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to purposely assist in the effective identification and recovery of the remains of Commissioner of Police Christine Alalo; who perished in the Ethiopian Airline Flight, ET 302, that crashed a few minutes after take-off, from Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa, on Sunday, 10th March, 2019.

The team is headed by the Director Police Health Services, Dr Moses Byaruhanga, a Pathologist, with vast experience in handling identification processes of victims. The team also comprises of Mr. Okello James Gregory, a brother to the late and Mr. Alvin Asiimwe, the second son to the late. They will be joined in Addis Ababa tomorrow, Friday, 15th March, 2019, by the elder son to the late, Mr. Emmanuel Ahimbisibwe, who will be travelling from Canada. The sibling and sons will help in availing DNA samples, if necessary, to aid in finding a match to the body remains of the late, among those that could have been recovered.

In Addis Ababa, the team will be received and by AIGP Rwego Xervir of Interpol African Union and jointly work closely with the Forensic experts, tasked with the identification and recovery of the human remains of the victims.

Further burial plans and arrangements do await reports from the joint teams led by AIGP Rwego Xervir and AIGP Dr. Byaruhanga Moses.

We want to thank both, The Ministries of Foreign and Internal Affairs, AMISOM, UN and International Partners, the Ethiopian Airlines, Interpol, the IGP and all family members for their tireless efforts towards locating and repatriating the remains of our fallen officer, CP Alalo Christine.
