POLICE DISMANTLES ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL GANGS

The territorial police in Ntungamo in close coordination with Crime Intelligence Headquarters and Flying Squad, arrested a total number of 9 very notorious suspects and recovered 4 guns, and 3 suspected stolen motorcycles, in one of the most successful operations on gang crime.

The task team disrupted the violent activities that were being committed by the notorious group. The 6 suspects arrested, allegedly participated in 17 armed robberies, from August, 2019 to- date. These include; 5 in Ntungamo, 2 in Kiboga, 01 in Bulaga, 01 in Kyengera, 01 in Matugga, 01 in Bulenga, 01 in Wakaliga, 01 in Kasangati, 01 in Kibibi,01 in Kitemu, Masaka road, 01 in Mbale and 01 in Lyantonde.

The suspects were identified as; Kalenzi Rogers, Nuwagaba Obadiah, Bahati Fred, Mbogo Brian, Tumwiine Augustine and Nkurunziza Sam. Several exhibits which include; 2 guns, 3 motorcycles, with registration numbers, UEL 889A, a TVS, UEW 972W, a Bajaj Boxer, and UET 627F, also a Bajaj Boxer, and facial masks, have been recovered. The guns and cartridges have also been submitted to the Forensic Laboratory for further analysis.

In a separate operation, the police at Bwebajja arrested three armed suspects who robbed a home in Bwebajja and stole several household items. These include; Mawanda David, alias Sekka, Nsubuga Gerald and Kulusia Ronald who are all in police custody. The hunt for two other suspects is ongoing. Two riffles were recovered, and exhibited with other household items.

The efforts above are part of our wide raging initiatives, designed to significantly reduce the incidence of gang crime.

We would like to inform the public that the arrests bring the violent and aggressive careers of the suspects to a halt, and will no doubt bring some measure of justice to their many victims.

We do commend our joint security agencies for their tireless pursuit of justice against these violent suspects who threaten the safety and stability of our neighbourhoods.
