DIGP KATSIGAZI CALLS FOR VIGILANCE BY CITY TRADERS

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP)  Maj. General Tumusiime Katsigazi on Thursday 10th August, 2023, held a meeting with traders comprising of business individuals from around the city.

This happened at the Royal Complex building in downtown Kampala. The objective of the meeting was to enhance awareness, safety, and security for both business people and city residents.

During the session, DIGP Katsigazi advised business owners to prioritize maintaining peace and encouraged their collaboration with the Uganda Police to combat terrorism.

DIGP Katsigazi also recommended the installation of security screening machines at all entrances to arcades and other buildings as a preventive measure and also urged hotel owners and landlords to collect and verify clients’ information before renting out their spaces, emphasizing the importance of vigilance against potential threats.

He additionally addressed the need for business owners to safeguard their assets from theft and discourage criminal activities.

In his closing remarks, Maj General Katsigazi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to hold the meeting and encouraged individuals to report any misconduct by police officers. He also commended the avoidance of riots in the city.

Generally, the meeting aimed to strengthen the security and well-being of the business community and city residents alike.
