We wish to inform the public that the political campaigns for Member of Parliament in Omoro country, are progressing well without any untoward incidents. The campaigns have now entered day 8 and are expected to be concluded on, Tuesday, 24.05.2022 at 6pm. So far, the EC guidelines have been followed, apart from one incident of holding campaigns beyond the time limit of 6pm, and another complaint of voter bribery, where two suspects were arrested.

As the political campaigns come to an end, our focus will shift to the resting day of 25.05.2022, where we shall be on the lookout for agents and candidates involved in the final door to door push campaigns, acts of intimidation and threats, voter bribery, negative propaganda, media manipulation, politically motivated violence, that are all prohibited.

We are therefore, well prepared and want to assure the constituents in Omoro county, that their security is guaranteed. And we encourage them to go out in large numbers and vote for the candidate of their own choice without fear. Our Joint Security task teams are fully comprised according to the policing plan, with several perimeters across the 84 polling stations, and at the tally Centre, with patrol routes and quick reaction teams in place. We shall not hesitate to arrest any individual or groups bent on violating the EC guidelines and the prevailing peace and security in the area.

As we conclude, we do condole with the relatives, friends and party members, of Denis Waiswa and Yakub Kiggundu, who perished in an accident along Pallisa-Kumi road, after a tyre burst. May their souls rest in Eternal Peace.
