As you are all aware, on the 16.09.2023, the UPDAF air strikes in the Eastern DRC, killed several ADF rebels including, Meddie Nkalubo, a notorious ADF commander, after very accurate reconnaissance, and multiple streams of intelligence. The now deceased, Meddie Nkalubo, was one of the perpetrators of the deadly bomb attacks at Komamboga, on the bus at Mpigi, CPS and Parliament Avenue. He was very important in ADF, because of his ability to plan and coordinate terrorist operations. His death, has dealt a significant blow to the ADF and will degrade the groups ability to operate in the DRC and in Uganda.

In a separate development, crime intelligence task teams, from CI Headquarters, carried out operations in Mbale City and Bukedea district, from the 17-19th September, where they arrested, 3 ADF suspects highly linked to the attacks on police stations, in December 2022. The suspects had escaped from the central region, and established a terror cell in Mbale, after their leader was killed in Mityana.

In another operation, the Joint Anti-terrorism Task Team, in coordination with Wamala region and Kyankwanzi police, on the 21.09.2023, arrested 2 high profile ADF elements in Bikooma village, Kyenda Trading Centre Butemba sub-county in Kyankwanzi district.  The suspects Lusiba Farouk and Nandaula Zura had acquired a 1.5 acre piece of land, after escaping from Lwengo district. They were transferred to Kampala for further processing and court action.

We continue to monitor all spaces in villages, urban centres and towns, where ADF remnants are hiding and further call upon them to surrender. The counter-terror operations are active and ongoing against violent extremists, who pose serious threats of safety and security of Ugandans. We do thank all our dedicated counter-terrorism task teams for the disruptive operations against ADF.
