In a continued effort to combat trafficking in persons, the Coordination Office for Prevention of Trafficking in Persons at the Ministry of Internal Affairs has today held a National Task Force meeting at Silver Springs Hotel Bugolobi to find ways on how best to protect migrant workers.

CP Twinomujuni Julius, the National Coordinator for the Coordination Office for Prevention of Trafficking in Persons, noted that most migrant workers are often duped or promised jobs and scholarships, that at times do not exist and they end up into different ways of exploitation esoecially labour and sexual exploitation. Uganda still remains a source, transit and destination countries and the details will soon be published in the National Report on Countering Trafficking in Persons in Uganda for the year 2023.

CP Twinomujuni urged members of the public to always do due diligence on labour-export companies and individuals by reaching out to the authorities, such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and others to verify the promises.
