5 TRADITIONAL HEALERS ARRESTED FOR TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS

The Territorial Police in Bukedi North and Pallisa district have in custody 6 suspects, including 5 traditional healers, for extortion and trafficking in persons. These include; Omaiso Umar a 28 year old, traditional healer of Moru village, Nabitende-Kamuge Town Council, Wanna Muhammad, a 24 year old, traditional healer of Moru village, Nayigino Loy, a 23 year old, traditional healer of Kalapata village, Gimba Hadijja, a 50 year old, traditional healer of Kalapata village, Bedo Rashid, a 32 year old traditional healer, and Omio Anthony a 40 year old peasant of Kagoli village in Pallisa districts.

The suspects lured, a one Mugambe Joseph, who had lost his job, as a supervisor at Rubees Petrol station in Mukono, with a promise that they would cleanse his body, from bad omens and help him return to his job. They confined the victim for 5days from the 21,08.2023, till the 25.08.2023, and coerced him into using his mobile phone, to extort money from his relatives. They extorted Ugx 880,000/= from the victims relatives and also confiscated his motorcycle, a Bajaj registration number UEH 573A. The matter was reported to police and the victim rescued and his motorcycle, recovered and exhibited.
