(A) Initial training at entry point:
1. PPCs training

(B)Career Development

1 . Induction training  for specialized units

For those joining specific fields of the force e.g CID, TRAFFIC, Fire fighting, Band, fingerprint expert, CT, VIPPU, Ballistic etc. Period of each varies from one course to another

2 . Refresher  training: For all officers and men, For capacity enhancement.
IGP addressing Policemen and women on a Refresher course
3 .Promotional -    PC to CPL, CPL to SGT,    SGT to Advanced.

4 . Junior command  for Inspectorates Rank

5 . Intermediate Command Courses for the ranks of ASPs and SP.

6 . Senior Command courses for the ranks of SSPs and above.

7. Strategic command courses  for Commissioners and Director

8 . Short term courses: These include seminars, conferences and workshops, relevant to policing. They take less than three months.

9. Long-term training :These exceed three months, Suitable for all staff except those on contract/probation, Can be government or self sponsored, May warrant leave without pay (full time course), There is opportunity for evening program.

10. Courses abroad (normally sponsored)

CID, SOCO, CI, Marines, Communication, Medical, MPPU, Fire, Ballistic, Finger prints, police Airwing, CT

  1. Adopting the concept of Competency Based Learning (CBL)
