Police issues emergency lines for Martyr’s day celebrations

Uganda Police Force has issued emergency lines and guidelines on how to secure the Martyrs day on 3rdJune 2017.

Police Spokesperson Asan Kasingye addressing the media at Police Headquarters assured the nation that Police will be alert and ensure that security of pilgrims at the prayer arena are safe to prevent any incidents like the Manchester attack.

“The Police and its sister security are working with other stake holders like religious leaders as well as ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities to see that this year’s martyrs day celebrations ends successfully” Kasingye said .

This year’s celebration is expected to attract over two million pilgrims from within and outside the country.

He advised the public to be vigilante and report any suspicious items, unattended to items and parcels to Police.

Police have put in place emergency telephone lines at Namungongo in case of any problem.

Kasingye called upon all pilgrims to be aware of their environs as they pray.
