Today’s Daily Monitor and Red pepper have carried stories misrepresenting the context and reasons for appointment of Commissioner of Police (CP) Kataratambi Charles as Commander of the new unit, the “Flying Squad” of the Uganda Police. We especially, take exception to the report and suggestion that Inspector of Police (IP) Nixon Ayegasirwe has been fired from the Unit or in any way has committed any wrong doing. read more

The American Ambassador to Uganda, Mr. Scott H. Delis has applauded the Uganda Police Force for being discipline and contributing to the development of other Police Forces within the region in terms of capacity building. “Uganda Police is becoming a model Police in the region, we see you moving forward every day and you are improving every day , you contributed in the training of Somali and South Sudan Police, which is a wonderful job,” Scotts made the remarks while on a guided tour of Police Training School, Kabalye, Masindi on Friday. read more

We would like to express our regret for the perpetuation of falsehoods, distorted, biased and sensational information more especially to the innocent members of the Public by some media. Red pepper has continuously published distorted and sensational stories such as “Rebels raid Police Post” of 11th. March. 2013 and “REBELS HIT JINJA Grab More Guns”, of 13th, March 2013 headlines. We find it absurd and we are wondering what the intention of this hyperbole exaggeration is. read more

Uganda Security agencies are investigating circumstances under which eight people, including five juveniles, were trafficked to South Sudan Capital, Juba. The victims were rescued by concerned Ugandans in Juba last week before being handed over to Kampala authorities. The juveniles were reportedly trafficked from several districts in Uganda, including Masaka, to work as hawkers and domestic labourers in South Sudan. read more
