Gen. Kayihura opens Crime Intelligence Course

The Inspector General of Police Gen .Kale Kayihura yesterday officially opened the Crime Intelligence course for  Police Officers at Imperial Golf View Hotel, Entebbe.

The  IGP called upon officers to put serious attention to what they were being taught.

“Be Disciplined and pay total attention to this and we get the best in fighting against crime, the stage we have reached in Uganda is very critical the point of take off to have a  crime free, its possible to have a crime free society,”noted the IGP.
“I want to thank Interpol for this project   in Uganda the first of its kind  this is not a small statement of support for our country,the area you are focusing on is the area of deficit  especially for us in Uganda and the rest of African countries and that you have initiated this am sure you must have based on your own evaluation of our needs and I want to thank you for this at the time we are battling violent criminality in the country in various forms of murder, drug abuse , organized transnational crimes,”  IGP added.

“Crime intelligence is very critical especially in our concept of community policing of crime prevention ,to be able to detect crime before it happens,intercept drugs so that they don’t reach in our communities and if they happen to we are able to detect.

AIGP Dr. Fred Yiga the Director Interpol and International Relations, Uganda, thanked the IGP for such initiatives. “This is another step in the right direction according to the guidelines you have always given on how Interpol Uganda should interact with the international community to enhance collaboration and consolidated fight against crime ,and togetherness,” he said,
“These training programs that advance our knowledge as Interpol in handling our mandate of cross boarder crimes, & Crime intelligence analysis.”

The one week course is being attended by police officers from Uganda , Sudan , South Sudan and Eritrea .
