QN. What is Police bond?

ANS:

Police bond is an agreement between the government of the state of Uganda and the accused (suspect) that he/she must report back to the police station on a given date and time. Should he/she fail to report, then the stipulated amount of money shall be forfeited or his/her sureties shall be arrested

QN. How is Police bond administered?

ANS

It is administered by DPC, OC/CID, OC/Station upon fulfilling certain conditions which include:

  • Producing substantive sureties

  • When the nature of offence is not of gravity

  • You a person of Integrity

And it is free of charge at every police station in Uganda.

QN. What is Police stand on impersonators?

ANS

Impersonators are arrested and taken to courts. We detect impersonators when they pretend to be doing police work or being agents of police or informers when they are not appointed by any authority, don’t have police warrant cards and uniforms.

QN. Why do you arrest idle and disorderly people?

ANS

This was stayed however if somebody is smoking and possessing opium, such persons are arrested and prosecuted.

QN. Why don’t you sustain operations on boda-bodas?

ANS

We are accountable to the public for any action or inaction. If there is a general operation on bodbodas, say to put on helmets and also get helmets for passengers, when the cyclists say they cannot afford the two helmets, we always listen and advise.

QN. Why is police brutal?

ANS

It is not an institutional policy that we must be brutal to the members of the public as we are called to protect and serve. Individual policemen whose conduct is found wanting for being brutal have always been arrested and prosecuted according to the law and basing on evidence.
